The Lord’s Prayer

Yesterday, we prayed The Lord’s Prayer as it is written in Matthew 6:9-13.

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

We did not go into detail then, but let’s take another look. Actually, the LORD’s prayer is a blueprint for how we should pray. It teaches us to:

  • Approach God as a Father
  • Worship God according to the names He calls Himself.
  • Align our requests with His mission of saving the world.
  • Have a heart of forgiveness that is active and proactive.
  • Put on the full armor of God and rebuke the very plans of the enemy by confronting and binding him and asking God to prevent him.
  • Declare that God is the highest power and you will submit to His will. Express your faith in God’s ability.
  • Seal it with faith.

For a good explanation of the above, watch “Charged Up” Part 5 by Pastor Michael Todd of Transformation Church.

Reflection

The WORD says that we do not know what we should pray for, but the Holy Spirit makes intercession for us, speaking the things that we know not. Even though we have a translator, God rejoices in our worshipful communication with Him. You could say that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. The more you get plugged into God, the better your conduction of answers. What does that mean? Your connection to God is a cellphone cord. Your life is the output of the phone – where things happen.

Prayer, praise and worship the are the cord that connects you to the power source of the Holy Spirit. This cord is a means to upload and download revelation and wisdom. If you struggle to pray, meditate on the WORD more. It says that meditation on the WORD comes with a benefit – God will make what you do to prosper.

12 And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice. 13 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. 16 For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually. II Chronicles 7:12-16
