Reflection

In today’s reading, God was fed up with lying prophets. They prophesied peace when God says they had not even heard a word from or communicated with Him. Despite being angry, God promised that there would be a time when He would raise up a “righteous branch” (Jeremiah 23:5) to do wisely and accomplish justice in the land.

When heaven would have looked down upon our filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6) continually, we instead gained the person of Christ to be our go-between to the Father. His righteousness is presentable and acceptable before God. He knew no sin for His entire life, but took on the sins of the world for a moment, so that He could take them to the grave so we would not have to be separated from our Father for all eternity.

Without the redemptive work of Christ on the cross, there is no other way to be righteous before the Father. He is literally our only hope of righteousness.

A layman’s definition of righteousness is simply, “right standing with God.” Righteousness is the condition of being in right relationship with the Lord. This can only happen through TOTAL faith and dependence upon Christ. There is no other way, and there is nothing we can add to our faith to obtain right relationship with the Lord (Rom. 11:6). – Andrew Wommack Ministries
